Muduru Model Primary School is located in Muduru, Mani Local Government in Katsina State. The town of Muduru is about twenty-five kilometres (25) East of Katsina city on the way to Daura City in Katsina state. It has a population of about 25,000 to 30,000 thousand people. The school has a total number of 2,780 pupils (Female- 1750 and Male- 1030), with 21 classes and 135 pupils per class.
In January 2018, the data mining team discovered through a tender advertisement that the Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (KASUBEB) has tendered for the construction/extension of storey-building on existing structures at Muduru Model Primary School at a cost of NGN 176 Million. The project is currently ongoing and total number of classes expected after completion of the project is 46 to accommodate 60 pupils per class.

We are calling on all concerned stakeholders especially the Katsina SUBEB to provide all necessary information that will aid the tracking and subsequent implementation of this project.

Education Secretary Assure of Community Working Together with the Contractor
8 March 2018: During the site inspection, the FTM Team inquired on the level of interaction between the contractor and the community and the possibility of Katsina SUBEB to share the contract specifics with the community for full participation and evaluation of the project. The representative of the education secretary responded that more schools will be built to further increase the standard of education in the community and that the contractor have been working closely with the community and they are hopeful that Katsina SUBEB will be willing to share the project specifics with the team.
Muduru Community Women Expressed Joy Over Project
8 March 2018: The teachers and women of Muduru Community were largely represented in the town-hall meeting and after being sensitised on the follow the money process they expressed delight in the ongoing project and were hopeful that their children’s will benefit from the project largely in acquiring quality education.
Head Master Enjoined the Government on Educational Facilities Provision
8 March 2018: After community sensitization on the need for citizens to follow their money by the FTM team, the school headmaster requested that although they do not have access to the Bill Of Quantities (BOQ), government should prioritize the provision of chairs, tables, laboratory equipment and internet facilities to validate qualitative teaching and learning activities and enable their pupils to match up with the ever-increasing and highly competitive societal and global educational demands.
Community Satisfied With the Current Work so Far
8 March 2018: The SBMC Chairman and The District Head expressed great contentment at the level of work done so far and the pace of execution. Officially, implementation kicked off in November 2017 and presently the work is near completion. The roofing, ceiling, flooring, fixing of door and burglary proof is 90 percent completed. Construction of laboratory, computer lab and general painting is ongoing.
Katsina State SUBEB Refused to Attend the Townhall Meeting
8 March 2018: More than 50 people including the district and village heads, SBMC Chairman, representative of the education secretary, headmaster of the school, youth leader, women leader, members of the community, teachers, school pupils, the media and a representative of the contractor were in attendance. Albeit invitation letters were sent across to the following stakeholders who failed to attend or send representatives: Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Chairman, Katsina State House of Assembly member representing Mani Local Government.
The Galadima of Muduru Community Welcomes The FTM Team For Town Hall Meeting
8 March 2018: Follow the Money team convened a town hall meeting at the Palace of the District Head of Muduru community to further create a platform for the community to interact with the government and other key stakeholders on the ongoing construction and extension of the Muduru Model Primary School in Mani LGA of Katsina State.

The Headmaster Express Gratitude as He Confirms More Accommodation for Students
22 February 2018: The Headmaster of Muduru Model Primary school expressed gratitude for the ongoing project and highlighted that the project will accommodate more students and birth additional 46 classes to fully accommodate the 2780 students as against the 21 classes they have been using so far.
District Head Appreciated the Effort of the Government
22 February 2018: In an Interview with the District Head of Muduru, Alhaji Galadima an aged man of about 80 years, he said “The school needed extension due to the number of the students that are increasing day by day, and we really appreciate the government and our state House of Assembly Representative who is from this town for their effort to see the construction reach this stage.”
Some Parts of the Project is Already Completed
22 February 2018: The borehole has been constructed behind the school premises and it is connected to a big water storage tank for use by the school. Construction and painting of staff and students toilets are completed and currently in use.
Work Currently Ongoing at the School
22 February 2018: The team visited the construction site at Muduru Primary School and observed that construction is going on. The storey building is almost complete, the windows, doors, ceiling and roofing are all in place. Wiring works are currently ongoing.

22 February 2018: Follow the Money team embarked on a community outreach to Muduru community to collect baseline data with which to effectively track the construction and extension of a storey building at Muduru Model Primary School.

Community Head Was Informed of the Upcoming Townhall Meeting
7th February 2018: Katsina State community reporter Bashiru during the preliminary visit met with the district head of Muduru town at his palace and briefed him about the activities of CODE and the campaign in the community which he appreciated. He also informed him about the proposed townhall meeting with the stakeholders.
Ongoing School Construction is Almost Completed
7th February 2018: Follow The Money Team visited Model Primary School location where the project is under construction. The ongoing project shows 60% completion rate.
Follow the Money Team Went for Community Outreach
7th February 2018: During the preliminary visit to the school, the Follow The Money team discovered that presently, students have been relocated to nearby Islamiyya community schools due to the ongoing construction in the school premises.
