A classroom in GDJSS, Dogon Kuka, Fune LGA
The conditions of schools directly impact negatively or positively on the attendance, interest and general performance of teachers and students in learning. In a bid to facilitate the provision of a conducive learning environment even in the remotest areas, Follow The Money team during its data mining process uncovered that the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Commission on its tender advertisement, called for bids on the construction and Rehabilitation of School Projects across Fune LGA of Yobe State.
Follow The Money has Initiated #EducateFune Mega campaign to track NGN 91,645,300 and provide oversight over the implementation of this 19 school project and simultaneously on board the beneficiary community with timely and detailed information to enable citizens participation and foster their inclusion in the project. To enable a successful campaign, We are calling on all stakeholders, most importantly the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Commission, the good people of Fune Community and the general public to participate fully in this campaign and provide all necessary information that will foster the full implementation of this project.

18/06/2019: The Yobe Team lead by Aliyu Muazu the State Chapter Lead conducted a thorough and well organised outreach across projects sites. The team furthermore enlightened the community members, leaders and school management on project details and eventually recorded positive buy-ins of the community on the campaigns.

FOI request sent toSUBEB, Damaturu Yobe State
20/05/201: Follow the Money sent an FOI request to the Executive chairman SUBEB, Damaturu Yobe on the SUBEB/UBEC intervention funds project 3rd and 4th quarter. FTM seeks to track the implementation of SUBEB/UBEC counterpart funding project spread across the 17 LGAs 2016 and 1st – 4th quarter 2017. A list of beneficiary schools where the intervention projects will be implemented and contracting documents for the projects formed part of the request.

9/7/2019: Following the tracking activities across project sites and the awareness created by the team on citizen participation in developmental projects, follow the money Yobe team, were alerted by the community members on project status. The team immediately embarked on another rank of project monitoring to evaluate the level of work done and match it side by side with the bills of quantities.

Good Turn Out During The Mega Town Hall Meeting

1/8/2019: The FTM Team organised a mega town hall meeting in Fune LGA, to convey all benefiting community stakeholders and representatives of SUBEB for a robust discussion as regards project implementation across all project sites. Major outcome from the meeting showcased a large turnout from the community members and effective dialogue on project implementation. Observations, Questions and Answers were made and the community agreed on a follow -up plan to visit SUBEB for further discuss.
